The independent Review of Data Security recently produced by the Comptroller and Auditor General, recommends a number of changes to improve the security of data held by States departments.
The Health and Social Services Department wish to reassure the public that the security and confidentiality of all patient/client information is taken very seriously and although the Report does identify potential areas of data security weakness, they believe their track record on security, to date, to be exemplary.
Staff are made aware of the importance of security as soon as they join the department, as part of a comprehensive induction programme.
Health and Social Services are continually looking to improve the security of records and are currently implementing the Integrated Care Record Programme, which will ultimately see all paper files being replaced with electronic records.
