University student Alex Winchester is continuing his fundraising efforts this Wednesday 11 August 2010, by bringing his rowing challenge to Jersey Airport.
Over the past few weeks Alex has been trying to cover some 42,195 metres - that's just over 26 miles - on each of 26 days at various locations around the Island. He's raising awareness of the work of members of HM Armed Services in Afghanistan.
Supported by crew members from Jersey Airport’s Rescue and Fire Fighting Service, the volunteers will be ‘rowing’ outside the arrivals terminal from 10.30am to 2.30pm, hoping to raise funds for the ‘Help for Heroes’ charity.
Jersey Airport’s Terminal and Security Manager, Steve Read, said “We are often approached by various charities and individuals to help with fundraising activities. We are delighted to be hosting this event for such a worthwhile cause."
You can sponsor Alex online on the Bmycharity website, or you can donate at the airport on the day.
