The Chief Minister, Senator Terry Le Sueur, travelled to Gibraltar on Wednesday 10 March 2010 at the invitation of the Chief Minister of Gibraltar, Peter Caruana. Guernsey's Chief Minister, Lyndon Trott, is also attending.
The visit will allow the three Chief Ministers to discuss the jurisdictions’ different approaches to international relations and domestic policy and will cover areas of mutual interest in business and finance. Discussions will also address how smaller jurisdictions can best represent themselves in a global community.
Prior to their return on Thursday 11 March, the Chief Ministers will be briefed on Gibraltar’s economy and taken on an economic tour of the Island.
Senator Le Sueur commented, "I am grateful to the Gibraltan Chief Minister for his kind invitation. I look forward to sharing our three Island’s relative experiences and think that our meeting will offer a very valuable opportunity to learn from other small jurisdictions how we can represent ourselves in the international community. This visit also clearly demonstrates the inter-island co-operation that exists on these matters."
