The States of Jersey Fire and Rescue Service (SJFRS) are reminding members of the public to be aware of the many types of dangerous driving conditions we may be faced with over the next few days due to the inclement weather.
The warning comes after Blue Watch attended 2 road traffic accidents on Sunday. One young driver escaped with possible minor injuries following what could have been a very serious collision. The young man was travelling along Princes Tower Road when it appears he lost control of his Citroen Saxo and collided with the granite wall on the side of the road.
SJFRS received the call just before 2.20am and immediately despatched a fire appliance and its rescue tender. The States Police and a paramedic team had already begun working at the scene. Crews worked closely together to stabilise the casualty and once the vehicle had been made safe they managed to remove the young man from the crash. He was then taken to hospital to be treated.
At just after 5.30pm Blue Watch were also called to a road traffic collision involving 2 vehicles along La Route de la Haule in St Brelade where the vehicles collided head on after one of the cars lost control due to the icy road conditions. This time 3 people were transported to hospital, none of them with any serious injuries.
