The Jersey Employment Tribunal has published its fifth annual report which covers the year from 1 July 2009 to 30 June 2010.
The Employment Tribunal received 169 applications during the period under review, which represents a slight decrease on the previous year.
The tribunal held 61 hearings and 26 interim hearings. The applicant was successful in 18 cases; the respondent was successful in 18 cases, and the remainder of the cases were settled, withdrawn, or were struck out during the hearing.
Chairman of the Employment Tribunal, Advocate David Le Quesne said “We endeavour to bring matters to a full hearing within 26 weeks of a claim being accepted and we achieve this in most cases. Hearings are delayed only in exceptional circumstances, or by mutual consent.”
The annual report will be laid before the States, as required by the Employment Tribunal (Jersey) Regulations 2005.
