The Director of International Finance, Martin de Forest-Brown, will relocate to London on 1 September 2010 to represent Jersey’s government and continue to build the jurisdiction’s profile as a world class financial centre. He will return as appropriate to undertake Jersey based financial matters.
De Forest-Brown will continue to support the Island's activity in Brussels until the appointment of the joint Channel Island office director is completed later this year, and will maintain support for Jersey Finance's international promotional activity.
De Forest-Brown said "We are in a period when Jersey needs to ensure its commitment to meet international standards is fully understood amongst stakeholders in London and Brussels. My move and our plans for Brussels are part of Jersey government's commitment to build international relations in these critical markets."
Commenting on the move, the Deputy Chief Minister, Senator Philip Ozouf said "I am confident that Martin de Forest-Brown will continue the excellent work that he has undertaken during the four years he has spent in the Island. It is important that we have a permanent presence in London, which as the world's leading financial centre, is Jersey's highest priority."
