The Parking Control Section of Transport and Technical Services and the patrons of Sand Street Car Park have raised more than £400 for the Madeira Landslide Appeal.
On Friday 5 March between 11am and 3pm, off duty Parking Control Officers (PCOs) offered to carry people's shopping to their car in the car park, in exchange for a donation to the Madeira Appeal. The public were very responsive and many people were happy to donate even if they didn’t require the services of the PCOs.
“On behalf of the Parking Control Officers, I would like to thank all those people who helped us raise this fantastic sum of money in just 4 hours,” said John Rogers, Chief Officer for Transport and Technical Services. “I would also like to commend the officers for instigating this initiative which was so successful.”
