Jersey Property Holdings, on behalf of the public, has accepted the gift of a significant area of land to the north of the Island from the previous owner Mrs Hart.
This involves the transfer of 167 vergees of open land next to the coastline.
The land includes the rock face overlooking Greve de Lecq, where essential maintenance is needed to ensure the safety of anyone wanting to access the boat park and pier.
Assistant Minister for Property Holdings, Deputy John Le Fondré, said “This is an excellent example of private landowners and the States working together to find long term solutions to problems.
“The transfer of this land brings into public ownership a significant area of coastal land, which we can now protect for generations to come.
"We are grateful to Mrs Hart for working with us to safeguard this beautiful part of the Island.”
