A new professional officer has been appointed to the Jersey Child Protection Committee.
Heidi Sydor, currently Strategic Development Manager - Vetting and Barring at the Home Affairs Department, will shortly take up the post as a 1 year secondment.
She replaces Cathy Philips, the JCPC’s first professional officer who recently left to research a PhD at Sheffield University.
As professional officer, Heidi will provide specialist support and practical help to the JCPC chair in the organisation of the JCPC’s activities and the development and implementation of its business plan to achieve its primary task of ensuring inter-agency commitment and co-ordination of child protection.
Independent chair of the JCPC Mike Taylor said “I am delighted to have appointed Heidi to this 1 year secondment.
“We decided to recruit for a 1 year contract because this is an excellent way to offer individuals career experience and development, as well as enhancing the States of Jersey’s skills base in child protection.”
Cathy Philips said “I am so pleased to be handing on the work to Heidi, who has led on some child protection activities in Home Affairs and who I know will bring to fruition so many of the important pieces of work that the JCPC has in hand.”
