Jersey Fire and Rescue answered 23 calls for emergency flooding assistance yesterday (28 February 2010) with many properties reporting more than 6 inches of water on the ground floor and some under as much as 2 feet of water.
22 full time and retained firefighters were deployed to deal with severe weather conditions and the resulting water run-off from saturated fields and cotils.
The emergency calls began at 4am and continued until the operation was scaled down at around midday.
The Tesson Mill area was particularly badly affected and a crew remained there for several hours, pumping a large amount of flood water away from neighbouring properties.
