Jersey’s labour market report is published every 6 months and covers key aspects of both public and private sector total employment.
The report is produced by the Statistics Unit and brings together public sector employment (compiled by the States of Jersey Treasury) and private sector employment (reported as a requirement of the Regulation of Undertakings and Development Law).
Latest report and figures
- in December 2009 53,700 people were employed in Jersey; this total represents an increase of 140 on the previous December
- 87% of the total were employed in the private sector
- almost a quarter (24%) of the workforce were employed in the finance sector
- the total number of vacancies in the private sector was 2,010
