The registered unemployment report for October 2010 has been released by the Statistics Unit.
This latest report shows that:
- the total number of people registered as unemployed and actively seeking work (ASW) in Jersey was 1,290
- the latest monthly ASW total is 60 higher than that of a month earlier (September 2010) and 290 higher than that of a year earlier (October 2009)
- a quarter of the ASW total (330 people) were teenagers aged 16-19 years; 120 teenagers were on the Advance to Work Scheme
- on a seasonally adjusted basis, the total number of people registered as ASW has been at a similar level for the last 3 months (August - October 2010)
The Social Security Department compiles and administers data on people registered as unemployed and actively seeking work in Jersey. The States of Jersey Statistics Unit has taken over responsibility for independently analysing this anonymised data and since the end of January 2010 has published monthly reports of the figures.
