The Social Security Department compiles and administers data on people registered as unemployed and actively seeking work in Jersey. The States of Jersey Statistics Unit has taken over responsibility for independently analysing this anonymised data and since the end of January 2010 has published monthly reports of the figures.
Latest figures
- on 31 May 2010 the total number of people registered as unemployed and actively seeking work (ASW) in Jersey was 1,060
- the latest monthly ASW total is 80 lower than that of a month earlier, in April 2010, and 190 greater than that of a year earlier, in May 2009
- on a seasonally adjusted basis the total number of people registered as ASW in May 2010 was at the same level as the monthly average for the previous 3 months
- 250 teenagers were registered as ASW, 20 fewer than in April 2010
- 110 teenagers were on the Advance to Work Scheme
