The report on the provision of social housing in Jersey prepared on behalf of the Minister for Housing by Professor Christine Whitehead OBE, of the London School of Economics and Cambridge University, has been out for Public consultation since October 2009. The Minister for Housing, Senator Terry Le Main has decided to extend the consultation period until Friday 5th March 2010 to allow key stakeholders the opportunity to comment.
Deputy Sean Power, Assistant Minister for Housing said ‘A significant amount of consultation has already taken place in particular with States tenants groups and with the Tenants Forum. We have been most impressed with feedback thus far. The Minister commissioned the report in order to identify the issues that affect the provision of social housing in Jersey and whether collectively the Island’s social housing providers are making best use of the available stock.
The report identifies those issues well and is helping to stimulate discussion with stakeholders and will inform the development on policies which will form the basis of a report and proposition to come to the States later this year.’
