21 September 2010
People in Jersey are being invited to attend the second stage of the Millennium Town Park consultation exercise on Saturday 2 October. Outline plans have been drafted for the park based on the very good feedback received in the first rounds of consultation, and the Transport and Technical Services Department (TTS) will be running a workshop and holding an open viewing of the plans.
How to have your say on the outline plans
There will be 2 opportunities for members of the public to have their say on Saturday 2 October:
- if you are able to spare about 4 hours from 10am to 2.15pm then you could be part of an organised workshop discussing specific topics in groups which would include politicians, States officers and members of the Town Park Group. You need to pre-register for this by contacting Jane Gouyette on +44 (0) 1534 448203 by 5pm by Wednesday 29 September
- alternatively, people are welcome to drop into the Old Magistrates Court in Seale Street between 10am and 1pm to view and discuss the draft plans with the team
What will be discussed at the workshop
1200 responses were received from the initial consultation conducted in August. A wide range of ideas were expressed and these ideas will be discussed as part of this stage of the consultation. In addition, the workshop will be looking at security, sustainability, and public art.
Expected date for completion of the Town Park
Preparation of the Millennium Town Park site will begin before the end of this year and the clearance of the contaminated soils from previous gas production activities starting in January 2011. Park construction will then be able to start and it is expected the park will be open to the public by the autumn of 2011.
