The Treasury Minister, Senator Philip Ozouf, will join the annual meeting of Commonwealth Finance Ministers in Washington DC this Friday, 8 October 2010.
Jersey is part of the UK delegation joining representatives of all members of the Commonwealth in the United States this week. The UK delegation is being led by the Chancellor of the Exchequer, George Osborne.
On the agenda are issues including the global economy - from crisis to recovery, promoting environmentally sustainable growth and aiding small and vulnerable states in the Commonwealth.
Senator Ozouf said: “I am looking forward to the annual meeting of Commonwealth Finance Ministers, which enables Jersey to engage with leading international figures and to play a role in international issues.”
The Prime Minister, David Cameron, recently said he believed the 54-country association can be ‘a powerful, authoritative and hugely influential force for economic progress in the 21st century’.
Before attending the Washington DC meeting Senator Ozouf has stopped off in New York for a day of meetings with key US financial institutions.
