The Minister for Transport and Technical Services (TTS), Connétable Mike Jackson, has contacted other Members of the States to clarify when the roadworks on Victoria Avenue are due to finish.
On Tuesday 25 May the TTS Minister said in the States that the final section of the Victoria Avenue refurbishment works were due to be completed in 3 weeks time. However, this was just the first phase of the final section. Completion of the full works will not be until July 16.
The south side of Victoria Avenue including the kerbs, footpaths and the adjacent car parks will be finished by June 13.
“I apologise for not giving Members the correct information in the States, which was then subsequently reported in the media,” said the TTS Minister. “I am extremely conscious of the continued disruption to users of the avenue and I am looking into how the traffic management can be improved and, if possible, reduce the amount of queuing that is happening for cars travelling to St Helier when the roadworks are in operation.”
The media will be given further updates so that they can give the public up-to-date changes in traffic restrictions and details about alternate routes.
