The plight of people following the recent Haiti earthquake has touched the hearts of a group of young people who work with the Youth Action Team.
Keen to be able to help, a group of 5 young people, 3 girls and 2 boys, took on a sponsored cycle ride in early March and raised around £200 to go towards the appeal.
The Youth Action Team works with young people in Jersey who need extra support, and some of the young people who are looked after by the Youth Action Team approached their team workers with the idea.
Speaking about the money raised, social worker with the Youth Action Team Scott Eastwood said: "Some of the young people who we work with suggested that they wanted to do something to raise money for Haiti. We started our bike ride at Le Frigate and rode along the front, up the railway walk to Corbiere and back. Not too far but far enough against the strong easterly wind on the way back!"
The group were accompanied by Scott, and Mandy Berner, both social workers at YAT, and family support workers Leah Reid and Rob Davies.
The bikes and cycle helmets for the event were lent to the group by Zebra Hire free of charge.
