The Social Security Department compiles and administers data on people registered as unemployed and actively seeking work in Jersey. The States of Jersey Statistics Unit has taken over responsibility for independently analysing this anonymised data and since the end of January 2010 has published monthly reports of the figures.
Latest figures
- on 30 June 2010 the total number of people registered as unemployed and actively seeking work (ASW) in Jersey was 1,110
- the latest monthly ASW total is 50 higher than that of a month earlier, in May 2010, and 150 greater than that of a year earlier, in June 2009
- on a seasonally adjusted basis the total number of people registered as ASW has been relatively stable for the past 7 months
- the 16-19 and 20-24 years age-bands saw monthly increases of 20 and 30 respectively; all the other age-bands saw little change from May to June 2010
- 100 teenagers were on the Advance to Work Scheme
