A revised incident management plan for La Collette is being developed by Jersey’s emergency planners.
A review of the current emergency procedures is currently being undertaken as a result of the continuing development of the La Collette industrial area and the construction of the new Energy from Waste plant. A review group was established consisting of representatives from the emergency services and the parish of St Helier.
The group which is led by Jersey’s Emergency Planning Officer, Michael Long is now in the process of finalising the proposed emergency evacuation arrangements and is keen to receive input from stakeholders in the area.
He said: “We have invited all key stakeholders to attend a meeting this evening to discuss the proposals. Although many of the existing procedures remain unchanged, there are some amendments, including the re-designation of the evacuation place of safety from its current location in Glacis Fields to the piazza inside Fort Regent.”
Upon completion of initial discussions with stakeholders, the emergency evacuation plans will be reviewed and, if necessary, amended. Further consultation will then take place.
