This year’s A Level results will be released on Thursday 18 August and will determine university places for the majority of Jersey's sixth form students.
GCSE results will be released on Thursday 25 August and schools, Highlands College and Careers Jersey will be available on both A Level and GCSE results days to help students who have any questions.
The number of Jersey students applying for university places this year is similar to that in 2010. However, with the changes in fees taking place in 2012, gaining a place will be very competitive as UK students rush to take advantage of the lower fee regime. It is therefore very important for local students to act promptly on receipt of their results.
If students have received a definite offer of a place at university, and they have applied for a student grant they will then need to complete the notification form available from the gov.je website or via the Careers Jersey Facebook page. Students should then return their notification form to the student finance office including copies of their A Level or BTEC results and a copy of the unconditional offer letter from the institute.
This is a very busy time for student finance as they assess and process nearly 1300 students. Students are therefore asked to only telephone if absolutely necessary and, if they do so, to be prepared to leave a message which will be picked up at a certain time each day.
Careers Jersey is open from Monday to Friday from 8.30am to 5pm throughout the holiday period to assist students looking for alternative courses and universities, those taking an unexpected gap year, as well as those considering employment instead of further education. Careers Jersey is also available to help students who have problems with their choices after their GCSE results have been announced.
