2 fire engines responded to a fire in a flat in St Saviour on the evening of Sunday 3 July 2011.
Numerous calls were received from concerned neighbours who could see thick black smoke coming from the ground floor windows.
The Fire & Rescue Service were quickly on the scene and 2 firefighters wearing breathing apparatus made a forced entry into the property and extinguished a fire in the kitchen. The door of the kitchen was open and the remainder of the flat suffered severe smoke damage. The investigation is still ongoing but it is believed the fire had started in an unattended chip pan.
The public are advised to take care, as many fires are caused as result of common activities and the damage and disruption can devastate your home and your belongings.
