Jersey students have received their GCSE results.
Head of Planning and Projects for Education, Sport and Culture, Jim Westwater, said the percentage of A*, A and B grades had increased from last year and that the percentage of pupils achieving 5 or more A* to Cs including maths and English, was also better than last year.
Commenting on the results, Director of Education, Sport and Culture, Mario Lundy, said there were some technical difficulties in receiving the results in one subject area; however, early indications are that the results are very similar to last year’s with some increase in the higher grades.
Assistant Minister for Education, Sport and Culture, Deputy Anne Dupré, said "Together with last week’s A-level successes, we see yet again evidence of the effectiveness of our education service. We must not forget that education starts in the early years and all of those involved in the education of this group of students should be very proud of their achievements."
