The Education, Sport and Culture Minister, Deputy James Reed, has issued the following response to the Education and Home Affairs Scrutiny Panel’s statement regarding the publication of exam results:
"The Education and Home Affairs Scrutiny Panel needs to do its homework. More information has already been published about the Island's examination results this year than ever before. Information comparing Jersey with each region in England has been available on the States website since the end of August. Further information will be made available once a full analysis has been completed and schools will be publishing their own results in October.
"I refute the criticism that I am being defensive and I remain committed to providing meaningful information about school performance. My department has been working on this for the past 18 months, long before the Scrutiny Panel decided to undertake a review. For the chairman to suggest that progress in this area is down to the recommendations of his panel is simply not the case."

On results day the results are received directly by the schools, which provide the department with headline figures.
Detailed A-level results for all pupils and schools in Jersey were provided to the department directly by the National Consortium for Exam Results (NCER) on 19 September (Monday).
Detailed GCSE results will be provided to the department by NCER on 26 September.
Once these results have been fully analysed to gauge trends in subjects and gender performance over time, further information will be made available to the public.
Schools will be required to publish their results online in October and to put them into context. A common template is under discussion.
