Islanders are to get the chance to have their say on the future of health and social care in Jersey at the first of a series of public meetings being held throughout the 12 week long consultation period. The first is this Wednesday 22 June at the RJA&HS at Trinity, starting at 7.30pm.
The green paper "Caring for each other, caring for ourselves" was launched by the Minister for Health and Social Services at the end of May, and the public are being urged to give their views on the proposals until Friday 19 August, when the consultation closes.
Health and Social Services (HSS) Minister Anne Pryke, CEO of HSS, Julie Garbutt and other representatives from the department will be at the meeting where presentations about the proposals in the green paper will be made. There will then be an opportunity for questions and discussion about the options that have been identified.
On Tuesday 21 June, Islanders can take part in a more informal 'drop in' session at St Clement's Parish Hall, where representatives will be manning a stand relating to the green paper. This is part of a wider exercise being organised by Jersey's Ambulance Service as they continue their parish tour, following a successful 'drop in' session in St Martin at the public hall in May.
Further public meetings are planned throughout the consultation period. A second evening meeting will be held at Les Quennevais School on Wednesday 13 July at 7.30pm and a lunchtime meeting will be held at St Paul’s Centre on Tuesday 2 August starting at 12.45 pm.
James Le Feuvre, head of strategy at HSS said: "We urge all Islanders to have their say on this important green paper, and one way of doing this is to come to one of our planned public meetings to find out more, and ask any questions you might have. You can also pick up a copy of the green paper at the meetings, and speak to people from HSS and representatives from some of the groups that we have worked very closely with in preparing the green paper. We are also interested in offering small groups the opportunity to participate in a focus group, if they would like to, until 19 August when the consultation closes."
