Sam Cooper, the deputy head of Springfield School, has been appointed headteacher with effect from January 2012.
Mr Cooper, who is currently on secondment at Samares School, will take over from Iain George, who is moving to Janvrin primary in the new year.

“As I take up my first headship, I am committed to making sure that the children’s learning is enhanced by accessing as many real-life experiences as possible. Wherever we can, we will look to involve the children’s families in their learning and provide support for our busy working parents.
“I am very much looking forward to working with the whole school community to ensure that we continue to do the very best for every child at Springfield.”
Director of Education Mario Lundy said: “I am really pleased that we have been able to appoint Sam to this post. He will bring a broad range of experience to the job as well as a real commitment to Springfield and its community.”
