The September report published by the Statistics Unit shows that:
- on a seasonally adjusted basis, the total number of people registered as actively seeking work (ASW) in Jersey was 30 lower than a month earlier (August 2012), 60 lower than the average for the preceding three months and the lowest seasonally adjusted total since February 2012
- the non-seasonally adjusted ASW total was 1,610. This latest monthly total is 60 lower than a month earlier (August 2012) and 240 higher than that of a year earlier (September 2011). It is 380 higher than that of two years earlier (September 2010) and is the lowest non-seasonally adjusted total since December 2011
- long-term unemployment (registered for more than 52 weeks) now accounts for more than a sixth of total ASW
- 320 teenagers aged 16-19 years were registered as ASW, 10 fewer than a month earlier. 130 teenagers were on the Advance to Work scheme
