Man dies after fall from cliff path

12 June 2012

The emergency services were called to an area of Mont Les Vaux shortly after 5pm last night, after 2 people fell more than 10 metres from a path above the railway walk.

1 man died and a woman is in hospital with serious injuries.

When the emergency services arrived at the scene they found the 2 people had fallen onto the roof of the German tunnels at St Aubin. Fire crews helped the ambulance service to bring the casualty down to ground level so that paramedics could take her to hospital for further care.

Police have confirmed that the man who died was 69-year-old holidaymaker Peter Scurr. The 65-year-old woman is due to be flown to Southampton Hospital for further treatment.

Police officers are treating the death as a tragic accident and are now preparing a file for the Deputy Viscount.
