The emergency services were called to La Grande Route Des Sablons just before 8pm last night, where a 2 car head on collision left one person trapped.
When the fire service arrived with a special rescue unit the scene was made safe and the injured passengers were treated by paramedics before being taken to hospital.
Firefighters were called to another emergency in the early hours of this morning, when a car veered off the main road in St Peter's Valley. When the special rescue unit arrived with 7 firefighters, they found the car in a precarious position at nearly 80 degrees with its bonnet pointing down towards the stream.
The rescue was difficult because of the position of both the car and the casualties. After liaising with the paramedics, the crew got the passengers out through the back of the car.
Both casualties were hauled to safety using a rescue line and sling and then placed on a spinal board before being taken to hospital.
The emergency services are reminding Islanders to take care when driving in wet conditions, as the road surfaces are more slippery after a prolonged period of dry weather.
