The German Ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Mr Georg Boomgaarden, will visit Jersey on 17 and 18 September 2012.
He will be accompanied by his wife, Mrs Christiane Boomgaarden; the German Embassy’s Head of Economic Affairs, Mr Joachim Freiherr Marschall von Bieberstein; and the Honorary German Consul, Mr Ken Soar.
During what will be his third visit to the Island, the ambassador will meet the Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst, and the Assistant Chief Minister, Senator Sir Philip Bailhache. He will also meet the Lieutenant-Governor; the Economic Development Minister, Senator Alan Maclean; and the Treasury and Resources Minister, Senator Philip Ozouf.
The ambassador will receive presentations from government and from representatives of the finance industry. He will also attend a dinner given by the Bailiff.
Senator Gorst said “I look forward to welcoming the ambassador and his party back to Jersey. This is an important opportunity to strengthen relations between our two countries and to share our views on global and European issues. Germany is Europe’s largest economy and there is much that we can learn from them.”
