Next week Transport and Technical Services (TTS) will be carrying out urgent work to remove water from the road in St Peter’s Valley. The water comes from a stream that has begun flowing after heavy rainfall.
It has been decided to do the work now because a cold winter has been forecast, which could freeze the water on the road and create a hazard for motorists, motorcyclists and cyclists.
A drainage channel will be constructed next to the rock face for 20 metres along St Peter's Valley, between the bottom of Mont Fallu and Tesson Mill.
In order to carry out the work safely, there will be stop/go boards in the Valley between 9.00am and 4.30pm for one week. They will be operating on the diversion route for the Beaumont Hill route improvement project.
Transport and Technical Services apologises in advance for any disruption caused to motorists during this urgent work.
