The Careers and Jobs Fair takes place at the Radisson Blu Waterfront Hotel from 1pm to 7pm on Wednesday 12 September and is free for people of all ages and career stages to attend.
Career and employment information will be available from a broad range of industries, from construction to childcare, IT to health, law to hospitality. You can also get advice on routes into industry, including entry-level roles such as apprenticeships to senior positions requiring professional qualifications, such as chartered accountancy.
CV, interview and careers advice
For the first time this year Careers Jersey and members of the CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel Development), will be running one to one and workshop sessions on constructing a good CV and developing effective interview techniques. These sessions will take place between 1.30pm and 3.30pm in meeting rooms on the 1st and 5th floors of the hotel. The Careers Jersey team will also be available throughout the day, providing careers advice and guidance, CV help and to answer higher education queries.
Andy Gibbs, Head of Lifelong Learning and Skills, explained more about the Fair: “We are pleased to present our third Careers and Jobs Fair and have been encouraged by the positive response and support from local employers. We recognise that in the current employment market many people are facing uncertainty regarding their career direction. By providing job and career opportunities under one roof, we hope to help people to make an informed decision about their future.”
The 2012 Careers and Jobs Fair is sponsored by information technology company, epitomii. At the Careers and Jobs Fair, epitomii will be highlighting the benefits and career opportunities within IT. Steven Moore, Managing Director, said: “As a fast growing business, it is important that epitomii attracts, develops and retains the best people. epitomii shares Jersey’s objective to become the centre of the IT industry for offshore jurisdictions and to achieve this young talent needs to be trained and developed alongside more experienced colleagues. A series of free industry talks will also take place throughout the afternoon.
