Jersey Fire and Rescue is looking for members of the public to join its volunteer support scheme, which supports the service in a wide range of community-based activities.
Volunteer work would mainly consist of:
- working to the Safer Communities directive by offering a friendly and accessible point of contact between the community and the Fire and Rescue Service
- promoting and undertaking home safety assessments in the community by visiting households giving safety advice and fitting smoke alarms to protect the occupier
- helping raise awareness of all fire and safety issues between all community groups
- providing welfare support at incidents
- enhancing the operation of the Command Support Unit at incidents and events
- giving support to individuals who have been involved in a domestic fire or incident to which the Fire and Rescue Service has been called
- attending community events
