The States of Jersey Police are dealing with a fire and gas leak in Gas Place.
There is a risk of explosion and a major incident has been declared.
People are being asked to avoid the area and if they are residents who haven’t been evacuated to stay indoors with their windows closed.
There are significant road closures in place. The Honorary Police are helping maintain the cordon.
The following schools have been evacuated to the following locations:
Secondary schools
- De La Salle – Bagatelle Lane football pitch
- Victoria College Prep – Heathfield playing fields, Mont Millais
- Victoria College – Heathfield, Mont Millais
- Beaulieu – Heathfield, Mont Millais
Primary schools
- Springfield – D’Auvergne school (not old JCG)
- Janvrin – D’Auvergne school
- Petit Ecole – D’Auvergne school
Education has advised parents they have everything in hand and to listen to updates through the media and through the police's social media.
