The Privileges and Procedures sub-committee appointed to review the Public Elections Law, chaired by Deputy Judy Martin, is keen to hear from as many Islanders as possible about their experience of voting in the 2011 election.
Deputy Martin said “The questionnaire asks about the registration of electors, how easy people found the voting process and how valuable they found nomination meetings. The information we get from the public will help inform the recommendations we make to amend the Public Elections Law.”
The sub-committee has consulted with a number of groups involved with the administration of Jersey's elections, including the Jurats and Judicial Greffier, parish secretaries and States Members. It has also prepared a questionnaire which you can answer online.
Once all responses have been considered from meetings and questionnaires, the sub-committee will prepare a report for the Privileges and Procedures Committee. The committee will then bring forward amendments to the law in time for the 2014 elections.
