The Swiss Ambassador to the UK, His Excellency Mr Anton Thalmann, will visit Jersey on 28 and 29 March 2012. He will be accompanied by his wife Mrs Dominique Thalmann; Head of the Economic Section at the Swiss Embassy in London, Mr Fabrice Filliez; the Honorary Swiss Consul, Mr Albert Good; and his wife Mrs Kate Good.
During his 2 day visit, the Ambassador will meet Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst, and Assistant Chief Minister, Senator Sir Philip Bailhache, as well as the Lieutenant Governor and the Bailiff.
It is expected that subjects under discussion will include bilateral relations, the maintenance of access to the EU single market by third parties, and global regulatory developments.
Senator Gorst commented: “I look forward to welcoming the Ambassador and his party to Jersey. This is an important opportunity to strengthen relations between our 2 countries and to share our views on global and European issues. I will also be extending sympathies on behalf of the Island at the tragic loss of life that occurred in the Valais Alps coach accident earlier this month.”
The programme for the Ambassador’s visit will also include presentations from the Jersey Financial Services Commission and Jersey Finance Limited.
