Two kayakers were rescued by Jersey Fire and Rescue on Sunday 10 November from rocks near Beauport Bay, St Brelade.
The inshore rescue boat was launched after the kayakers became trapped on the rocks. One of the kayakers had an injured leg, having capsized in a gully and, with the assistance of the second kayaker, had managed to clamber onto rocks but was unable to climb or walk to safety.
Initial attempts to carry out a rescue proved too difficult due to a large swell and the narrowness of the gully. Using the RNLI’s lifeboat as an anchor point, the inshore rescue boat was able to get closer to the narrow gully and other Fire Service personnel made their way down the cliff face to help the injured kayaker into the boat.
