Customs and Immigration annual report

The Customs and Immigration Service has published its annual report for 2012. 

 

The Home Affairs Minister, Senator Ian Le Marquand, said 'I am very pleased to receive the Customs and Immigration Service’s Annual Report. The report demonstrates how the Service continues to perform at a high standard to protect our Island from the threats of illegal immigration, the smuggling of prohibited goods and fraudulent evasion of duties. 

 

'Over the years the Service has adopted a very flexible approach to delivering its targets, especially in the way it manages its staff.  The multifunctional deployment of staff, as described by the Head of Service in his introduction to the report, has allowed the service to operate at a very high level despite the pressures of an ever increasing workload and finite resources.  I firmly believe that this modern approach, allied to the way the service is structured, offers the most efficient way to deliver the Island’s essential border controls.
