New bus timetable starts at Easter

A new bus timetable will start operating on 31 March 2013. 

 

A number of changes to LibertyBus services were put forward during a consultation period in February. Following comments  from the public, businesses, and other organisations, further revisions have been made to the spring timetable, which will operate between 31 March and 26 May.

 

 

• 22, connecting St Helier with St Brelade’s Bay, Lavender Farm, Corbiere, St Ouen’s Bay, St Ouen’s Village and Greve de Lecq
• 23, connecting St Helier with Samares Manor, Gorey Pier, Queen’s Valley, La Hougue Bie and Durrell
• 28, connecting St Helier with Jersey War Tunnels, Living Legend, St Ouen’s Village, St Mary’s Village and La Mare Wine Estate
• 29, connecting Jersey Pearl (St Ouen’s Bay) with St Ouen’s Village, St Mary’s Village, St John’s Village, Trinity Church and Durrell
• X12, a peak period ‘express’ service operating one morning and one evening journey every weekday which links Corbiere with La Moye, Red Houses, Don Farm, Aero Club, Beaumont Hill, and operating to St Helier via Victoria Avenue

The Minister for Transport and Technical Services, Deputy Kevin Lewis, said “Consulting on proposed bus changes provides a valuable opportunity for people to have their say. There was a good response to the proposals and in some cases the feedback indicated that some further changes were required. 

 

"For example, an alteration to the route of service 20, which was proposed in order to remove buses from the narrow roads in the Mont a l’Abbe area and avoid services being delayed when exiting Clarke Avenue, is not now going ahead and the current route in this area is being continued in the spring timetable. Similarly, a morning journey on service 3 that would have departed 10 minutes earlier is being kept at its existing time of 07:25 from St Martin’s Public Hall as a result of passengers’ comments.”

 

Deputy Lewis continued “In previous years, the winter timetable has been left to run right up until the last week of May, with additional routes targeted at visitors commencing each Easter. For spring 2013, it was intended to enhance the winter routes with additional buses to improve capacity and frequency for both residents and visitors. However feedback indicated that it would be desirable to operate the different seasonal routes once more this year. I am pleased to announce that LibertyBus will operate five extra services compared to the winter timetable, four of which were not originally included in the proposals.”

 

As a result, the proposed enhancements to services 1A, 2, 8, 9, 12, 25 and 27 will not be implemented in the spring bus timetable. Instead, improvements will be incorporated in the summer timetable from 26 May. Provisional summer schedules will be finalised over the next few weeks, with a further consultation process expected to take place in April.
