Changes proposed to bus timetable

12 August 2014

LibertyBus and the Minister for Transport and Technical Services have asked Islanders for their views on proposed changes to bus services from 29 September 2014, when the summer timetable ends.

The proposals include route changes, adjustments to frequencies in line with passenger demand, and some simplification to timetables. There are also features of the summer timetable continued for the winter season and a new bus link between the St Peter’s Arsenal area and Red Houses.

Proposed service changes

Service 1St Helier to Gorey via Greve d’Azette – a revised evening timetable providing buses every 30 minutes, with alternating journeys branded 1G serving Georgetown
Service 1ASt Helier to Gorey via St Clement’s Church – streamlined timetable operating hourly with all buses via Green Road and early morning journeys renumbered 2B
Service 2St Helier to St Catherine – extra late night service from Gorey to St Helier on Fridays and Saturdays
Service 9St Helier to Greve de Lecq – evening journeys renumbered 9A, daytime journeys now routed via Beaumont Hill offering faster journey times to and from St Helier for residents of St Peter’s Village
Service 12, 12A, X12St Helier to Corbiere – buses to operate anti-clockwise around the Corbiere loop, with a half hourly frequency until 1 November and hourly thereafter
Service 12ASt Helier to L’Etacq – hourly Sunday service reintroduced
Service 13St Helier to Durrell via Hougue Bie – daytime service frequency revised to two-hourly, Monday to Saturday
Service 22St Helier to L’Etacq via St Peter’s Arsenal – new daily service with two-hourly frequency, incorporating sections of current services 9 and 12A
Service 25, 27St Helier to St John/St Mary – hourly daytime departures and more buses to St Mary

Timing changes are also being made to some journeys on other services, principally to ensure that buses maintain a high level of punctuality.

The Minister for Transport and Technical Services, Deputy Kevin Lewis, said “Bus use in Jersey continues to grow and has become the first choice of travel for an increasing number of residents and visitors alike. I am delighted that LibertyBus are committed to the continual development of the Jersey public transport network.

“I am sure that these changes, including faster journeys and new links, will be well received. I would like to encourage members of the public to contact LibertyBus over the next week with their comments on these proposals.”

A public notice summarising the proposed changes to bus services will appear in the Jersey Gazette section of the Jersey Evening Post on Wednesday 13 August.

A detailed timetable is available for download from the LibertyBus website and all comments can be posted or emailed to LibertyBus by 20 August 2014.
