The Chief Minister, Senator Ian Gorst, will lead a delegation to China this week (8 - 10 April 2014).
The delegation, which includes representatives of Jersey Finance Limited and the Jersey Financial Services Commission, will begin by visiting Beijing before moving on to Shanghai.
The Chief Minister will meet Chinese government and business representatives in both cities, following on from his previous visit to the country in July last year. Subjects under discussion will include financial services, the digital economy and trade.
Senator Gorst said "I look forward to a busy and productive visit to China. It is important that the Government of Jersey continues to engage with the world’s second largest economy. Official government visits support the creation of new business links with China, which in turn bring long-term economic benefits to the Island. Visits of this kind also help to promote Jersey’s culture and identity abroad, which is important for the reputation of the Island.”
