Provisional GCSE results published today show Jersey students have performed well compared to last year. The all-island pass rate for GCSE grades A* to C has risen to 72.6% in 2014 from 67.4% in 2013.
Although the number of A* to C grades, including English and Maths, has also risen, to 61% in 2014 from 53.6% in 2013, the Education Department said that these may change once the new criteria for reporting performance have been applied.
In England there are significant changes to the way GCSE results will be reported in future performance tables. Further analysis needs to be done to understand the impact of these in Jersey.
Education, Sport and Culture Minister Deputy Patrick Ryan said “Today’s results show Jersey students and schools are performing well. When compared to last year, our school results have improved which is great news. Congratulations go to all the students and teachers who have worked so hard to achieve these results.”
This year a total of 1,016 students sat GCSE examinations in the Island. The figures include GCSE exams taken in all Jersey secondary schools.

Once appeals and re-marks have been completed, individual secondary schools will publish adjusted results after the autumn half term. These figures will be posted by each school on their own website and will include relevant information.
