Work to improve the pedestrian crossing on St Saviour’s Hill, just west of the entrances to Langtry Gardens, Jersey Cricket Club and St Saviour's Bowling Club has now started.
Transport and Technical Services will create a pedestrian refuge to make it easier and safer for pedestrians to cross and, to make space for the refuge, the road will be widened on both sides of the entrance to the cricket and bowling clubs.
A new 1.8 m wide footpath will also be installed on the east bound side of the carriageway to make a continuous path from Langley Avenue up to the entrance to Grainville Playing Fields car park.
The improvements to the area also include two new bus stops with shelters to serve Langtry Gardens and the sports field.
Transport and Technical Services Minister Deputy Kevin Lewis said “My Department is progressing a programme of pedestrian and bus service improvements to encourage and enable people to make alternative travel choices to using cars all of the time. I am pleased to say this St Saviour’s Hill project will not only make it easier for pedestrians to walk along and cross this road but also provide shelter from the weather for bus users."
