Having completed the tender process for the construction of the new Police Headquarters, the States of Jersey has selected Rok-Regal Construction Limited as the preferred contractor to undertake the contract.
A period of preliminary work on the site, which is on La Route du Fort by Green Street car park, is currently taking place to finalise contract arrangements and to programme and secure necessary statutory approvals before work starts at the site in October 2014.
Work due to begin on 20 October
The Assistant Treasury and Resources Minister, Deputy Eddie Noel, said “This is another important step that brings the development of the first purpose-built Police HQ in Jersey’s history closer to reality.
“I am delighted we have selected a local contractor to undertake these works. The Rok-Regal team will be undertaking the vast majority of the work through local sub-contractors, which will provide a much-needed boost to the local construction industry.
“Whilst there is still considerable work to do to finalise arrangements, including close liaison with the project team and the Transport and Technical Services Department, I expect this to be completed by mid-October with the contractor taking occupancy of the site shortly afterwards.”
It is anticipated that construction work will begin on 20 October 2014 and that the building will be completed by the end of 2016.
