Transport and Technical Services (TTS) are reminding all users of seasonal car parks that, from Tuesday 1 April, they will have to pay to park.
Parking in seasonal car parks is free from October to March but a charge of 1 unit per 2 hours operates between April and September. This applies to the following car parks:
- Laybys 5, 6 and 7 on Victoria Avenue
- Victoria House (Bel Royal Hamburger Bar)
- La Perquage at La Route de la Haule
- La Mielle at St Aubin
- Midbay at St Brelade’s bay
- Tam's at St Brelade’s bay
- Woodford at St Brelade’s bay
Seasonal charging was introduced to these car parks because they serve neighbouring beaches and more space was needed for beachgoers. Previous to the introduction of the charge, these car parks were being monopolised by car owners who lived in the area. The charging mechanism allows fairer use of spaces.
Director of Transport for TTS, Tristen Dodd, said “Although there is signage in these seasonal car parks which says that you have to ‘pay and display’, we want to give people an extra reminder particularly regular users who may not pay as much attention to signage as others.”
