The Treasury and Resources Minister, Senator Philip Ozouf, has made the following statement, in response to yesterday’s sitting of the Jersey Court of Appeal:
“The Jersey Court of Appeal yesterday dismissed Harcourt’s £100 million civil action against the Minister for Treasury and Resources. The Court, consisting of three external Judges, concluded that there was no arguable case and struck out the claim in its entirety, awarding the Minister's costs of defending the claim.
“I wish to warmly thank the Solicitor General Mr Howard Sharp QC for representing me in this case of considerable public importance. His advice has been consistent and of the highest quality. He has once again showed that the Ministers, States and public of Jersey are extremely well served by him.
"I also want to thank the Treasury team for their diligent work on full disclosure of all documents needed to defend this claim.
"The outcome of this case vindicates the principled position I have taken and in addition, a number of the actions of my predecessor, former Senator Terry Le Sueur.”
