Planning and Building Services is altering the way it responds to planning application submissions for the Les Galots application because of the volume of submissions.
Planning usually acknowledges representations on planning applications in writing. It then sends further updates as the application progresses. It can mean three or more letters being sent to each person.
Development Control Director, Peter Le Gresley said “There’s a balance to be struck between keeping people informed and the time and money it would cost on this occasion to individually acknowledge in writing the many submissions we’ve received in relation to Les Galots.
“As of this morning, we have received 1,325 representations, which would cost around £2,000 in postage alone to send our usual replies and updates, and we don’t think this is a wise use of public money.
“We are asking members of the public to keep an eye on our website for updates, and we will make formal announcements when significant dates arise.”
All representations received by the department will be published on gov.je/planning and will be publicly available to view. All submissions will be taken into account in the planning process in the usual way.
