Transport and Technical Services (TTS) is rezoning some of the spaces at the Esplanade car park to three hour maximum stay shopper parking spaces now that the Les Jardins annex car park is available.
TTS will be marking up about 70 spaces in the new ‘Shoppers zone’ of the Esplanade car park on Tuesday 16 to Thursday 18 June with a view to opening it to the public on Friday 19 June, or before if the work is complete. There will be no overall loss of commuter spaces.
Overspill car park
On 16 June the new Les Jardins car park is opening with nearly 220 spaces, which is an annex to the main Esplanade car park accessible via an underpass which will act as an overspill. This has been made available to accommodate the displaced parking due to the Esplanade site development.
Minister for Transport and Technical Services, Deputy Eddie Noel, said “The opening of Les Jardins car park has given us a great opportunity to provide more shopper spaces. These will be particularly useful when we start to refurbish Sand Street multi-storey car park and we will need to temporarily suspend some of the parking while the work is being undertaken.”
