The Higher Education Fair is back this week to help students make informed decisions about their future. The Fair, which is on Thursday 12 March, is organised by Careers Jersey and will be sponsored for the sixth year by Capita Asset Services.
Universities are continuing to show a strong interest in Jersey students, with representatives from 66 universities from across the UK, Jersey and further afield attending the one-day event.
University staff will be here to explain what courses and facilities they can offer and to give guidance to prospective students. The Fair gives anyone interested in university the chance to find out more about studying for a degree and university life. Careers Jersey will also be advising individuals who might prefer to go straight into work but still want to continue their studies through professional qualifications.
The Higher Education Fair is at Hautlieu School and will be open from 1.30pm to 6.30pm. It is free to attend. In addition to exhibitor stands, where attendees can speak to university representatives directly, there will also be 24 presentations on subjects ranging from architecture to computer science, and medicine to media studies.
Jeremy Field, Education Liaison Manager at Careers Jersey, said “Our aim is to provide a range of information in one place to help students and parents to not only consider the different options around higher education but also to advise those interested in employment that they can continue their education through professional qualifications.
"There is a huge variety of post-18 options available and it is important that people have a chance to research their choices so that they can make well-informed decisions about their future.”

Both before and after the Fair, university representatives will be visiting Jersey’s secondary schools to talk to students aged 14 and over. The visitors will lead interactive workshops aimed at encouraging young people to think about higher education and the options available.
The Education, Sport & Culture Minister Deputy Rod Bryans, said “Choosing a university can seem like a complicated process so it’s important that we continue to give everyone as much help as possible in making this choice. It will be a major commitment for them and their families for several years.”
