The Jersey Architecture Design Awards, which celebrate and promote the work of local architects and designers, will officially open Friday 10 April at 1:15pm.
The awards are held every two years and are open to all designers who believe their project has contributed positively to the built environment and character of Jersey.
This year the opening of the competition, which is sponsored by the Jersey Architecture Commission, will take place at the CCA Galleries International on Hill Street, which will host other events within the Jersey Architecture Biennale later this year.
President of the Association of Jersey Architects, Derek Mason, and the Minister for Planning and Environment, Deputy Steve Luce, will open the awards which are comprised of 11 different categories. The winners will be announced in September.
Deputy Luce said "I am delighted to invite Jersey architects to demonstrate the quality of work produced over the last two years. The awards are sponsored by the Jersey Architecture Commission who provide critical advice into the planning process on all matters relating to design. Their drive to raise standards is reflected in many of the proposed schemes I have seen since my appointment last year. The importance given to design and place making by local architects will be key in driving the regeneration of St Helier in the years ahead and we must continue to strive to set the highest standards possible. The design awards offer the opportunity to see and appreciate the work that is being done."
Application forms can be collected from the Environment Department at South Hill. All entries must be submitted by Friday 12 June 2015.
